Rescued Art

22″Wx17″H limited edition, pencil signed woodblock print by Brigitte Hanf. This is a rare vintage piece from 1968 with only 25 prints in the run.
Hanf, who died in 1996, was an artist of German descent living in Litchfield County, Connecticut. She was raised in the old world tradition of creating woodblock wallpapers. She became quite well known as a print maker and illustrator.
This piece is gorgeous in its coloration. It is obvious that at least three blocks were applied to get this effect. The fossil is penetrating dark red, giving us the feel of an ancient fish brought back to life via art

Excellent condition throughout: new wood frame, new double mat, new glass, backing board & paper, new hanging hardware.
