Rescued Art

23″Wx19″H open edition print by Steve Polomchak: “Amish Kids on Ice.”
Polomchak made his living for many years as a commercial artist. While living in Indiana, he became fascinated with the life of Amish people in the rural areas around his home. His paintings are serene, beautiful and naive. They make the life of this poor sect of farmers seem beautiful, never mind the hand labor. He even makes the cold of winter seem inviting in this depiction of four Amish kids skating together on the frozen river.
This piece is a much rarer rendition of a setting Polomchak made famous in a painting titled “Blade Glide,” also showing four Amish children skating under this same covered bridge. (The title of our print has been created for easy reference.)
The print is double matted in a stately oak frame. Excellent condition throughout: cleaned with refinished oak frame, new backing paper and hanging hardware.
