Rescued Art

18″Wx23″H open edition print by Ruth Deckard titled “Out on a Limb.” Based on an original oil painting from the 1950s.
Deckard was famous for her naive depiction of young white women for the sexy calendar market. Note the wide-eyes of the subject as her clothes are being unraveled by robins to make a nest. Note also, she has climbed an apple tree in high heels to pick a bouquet of blossoms. Naive indeed.
For her whole career, Deckard was assumed to be a male artist. She probably feared not being accepted in the male-dominated pin-up art scene. It wasn’t until 1996 that she came out as a woman.
Excellent condition throughout: cleaned, refinished oak frame, new backing paper and hanging hardware.
