Rescued Art

23″ W x 19″ H pastels by Pat Dugas, well-known artist in the Northeast whose paintings sell for hefty prices.
This pair of paintings warrants the descriptor of ‘diptych.” They are intended to be hung together as a pair in order to bring out the true beauty of the watery scene. The deep shadow of the wading heron with the sun in the sky is given context by the sun-soaked reeds of the second piece. The color possibilities of pastel paints are brought out in the gorgeous yellows and oranges of the sky reflected in the lake.
The original asking price for the pair was $500. They are actually in better condition now than when new: the composite frames are covered in more coats of finish; the backing paper and hanging hardware are upgraded.
